U.S. Air Force Recruiters Save Life At MÖTLEY CRÜE Concert
September 12, 2009According to the official web site of the U.S. Air Force, members of the 313th Recruiting Squadron are credited with saving a life at MÖTLEY CRÜE's September 5 concert at the Darien Lake Performing Arts Center in Batavia, New York.
The recruiters had volunteered for a fundraiser at the Darien Lake Performing Arts Center when suddenly a man was carried into their booth as he was bleeding profusely from a huge four-inch gash in his thigh.
"We immediately went into action," said Tech. Sgt. Richard Wager. "It was as if everyone in our group just knew what to do. We laid him down, stripped off our shirts and applied pressure to the wound to get it to stop bleeding."
Glen Hall, a six-year Air Force veteran and husband to Staff Staff Sgt. Jennifer Hall, went to task on applying pressure to the wound, while Master Sgt. Brian Driscoll instinctively went to hold the victim's head and to try to keep the man calm so he wouldn't go into shock.
Sergeant Wager took off running to inform security and call for an ambulance. When the bleeding wouldn't stop, a make-shift tourniquet was made out of belts and a money apron and applied to the leg. Staff Sgt. Paul Golembiewski started twisting as tight as possible as Mr. Hall continued to apply pressure.
